Georgian studies

In fall of 2021, I got a unique opportunity to travel to Tbilisi in Georgia for an art project revolving around the famous Georgian artist Pirosmanashvili. Many thanks to the wonderful To Be Foundation for their support and financial aid for this project. Thank you so much Sergei and Anna, I really enjoyed their approach and our conversations. A huge thank you also goes to Masha Schmidt and Irakly for their support and help. I would also like to thank all those who helped me find wonderful people and amazing art spaces in Tbilisi. For this project in Tbilisi I stayed for one week in the city and explored museums, artistic and cultural spaces and places of significance to Pirosmanashvili’s history and art. In my paintings and other art objects, I tried to evoke an outlook of a modern Pirosmanashvili, while focusing on the beautiful art, history, mythos and perhaps, most importantly, music of Georgia.
