In the spring of 2021, I chose to paint a series of paintings, depicting the streets and buildings of Northern Ghent. I chose to focus on the emerging and disappearing buildings to depict the ever changing nature of the city of Ghent and to commemorate its industrial past. In this series the reinvention of old industrial buildings is clearly visible. They are no longer massive bastions of craft and industry, but peaceful sentinels of the past.
